This Love Between Us

PREVIOUS PERFORMANCE

Reena Esmail’s “This Love Between Us: Prayers For Unity” explores the topic of brotherhood and unity through the juxtaposition of Indian and Western classical styles and instruments, and sets the words of the seven major religious traditions of India. Also on this program will be J.S. Bach’s Cantata BWV 140, “Wachet auf”.

Joy of the Season

A beloved Raleigh holiday tradition! The Chorale’s 170-voice Symphonic Choir, Chamber Choir, and Youth Choir accompanied by brass ensemble, percussion, piano, and organ return to Meymandi Concert Hall to sing the festive music of the season. You’ll hear familiar carols and enjoy new and contemporary settings destined to become holiday favorites. You’ve seen us on UNC-TV, now come experience the Joy of the Season live with the North Carolina Master Chorale.

Celebrate your Valentine’s Day with a 16-voice chamber choir, piano, bass, and drums. This season we pay tribute to the iconic songwriting and performing duos including Lennon & McCartney, Bacharach & David, The Righteous Brothers, The Carpenters, Simon & Garfunkel, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, and many more.

Master Chorale Goes to the Movies

April 6th at 3pm and 7:30pm

Return to Raleigh’s historic Rialto Theatre to enjoy the popcorn and the Master Chorale performing classic songs from the history of cinema covering the early MGM films, Henry Mancini, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Disney, and Star Wars.

Sunrise Mass

Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass" has been described as a metaphysical journey from the heavens to earth, a metaphor for human development, a spiritual journey. Marvel at the beauty and sonic acoustical space of the Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral as the Master Chorale is joined by a symphonic string ensemble. Also on the program will be works by Arvo Pärt, Felix Mendelssohn, and Josef Rheinberger.

All the Colors of the World

As the Cyndi Lauper song proclaims, “True colors are beautiful, like a rainbow.” In this program the 40-voice chamber choir uses the concept of color in musical pieces like “My Luve’s Like a Red, Red Rose”, “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair” or ”Bein’ Green" as a prism for viewing our natural world and the humanity that comprises it.  Through a rainbow of choral colors we celebrate our differences and our similarities.
