Sing
with the NCMC
North
Carolina Master Chorale
The Chorale has approximately 170 volunteer members. This ensemble rehearses
Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:45 PM at First Presbyterian Church in downtown
Raleigh. Some additional dress rehearsals are required.
Singers pay annual dues and must buy their music. Singers are required
to provide their own concert wardrobe (designated black formal attire
for women and tuxedoes for men). Need-based dues scholarships are available.
Chorale auditions are held in late August and, on occasion, mid-season.
Auditions are 10-12 minutes long, with the Music Director and his accompanist.
Singers are to bring a prepared classical song or aria, though other
music types may be acceptable. Singers will also be asked to sight-sing
and vocalize with piano accompaniment. Prior choral music singing experience
is required.
To be notified when the next audition appointments are available, send a message including your full name, voice part, and day and evening telephone
numbers.
NCMC
Chamber Choir
The Chamber Choir is a professional 22-voice ensemble. The ensemble
rehearses on Monday evenings for 3-6 weeks before each performance.
Chamber Choir auditions are held on a need basis. Auditions for the
ensemble are very competitive. Chamber Choir members have degrees in
music and/or extensive experience in choral music. A phone interview
with the Music Director is required before setting up an audition for
this ensemble. To request an interview, you may send a message to: Music
Director Alfred Sturgis
